Main Street Housing (Amherst, MA)
Dietz & Company Architects is working with the Amherst Housing Authority to develop and build 11 new units of affordable housing in two multi-unit buildings. Located on a 4.2 acre parcel on Main Street, the proposed site enjoys bus service and is within walking distance to retail shops and downtown services.
The owner's goal was to design within the local vernacular, and to provide for energy efficient units that are as green as possible given budget constraints. The project design integrates elements found in the farmhouses and Victorian vernacular that are found throughout the surrounding neighborhoods.
