Caring Health Center, Springfield, MA

The Caring Health Center is a Section 330 Community Health Center under the 1965 US Public Health Services Act, which provides community-controlled healthcare services including primary and preventive care, as well as many clinical services and health education.  From its beginnings in 1995, it has experienced dramatic growth and now services over 22,000 individuals in the greater Springfield area. 

The Caring Health Center project includes comprehensive renovations to three contiguous existing historic buildings for a 57,535 square foot Department of Public Health licensed outpatient medical clinic in Springfield, Massachusetts.  Total renovation costs will be $13 million. In our work for the Caring Health Center, we have worked as a team with the owner to develop a facility that puts patient needs first - from the first experience as they walk in the door to the last encounter before they leave.  We worked with the owner to develop logical and organized work flows that protect customer confidentiality and privacy.    

Our model for sustainability works well in a health care setting.  From specifying healthy materials to providing and controlling natural light, our design will provide energy savings and a quality-of-life experience for both patient and provider.
