YWCA of Western Mass. - Phase 2 (Springfield, MA)

Part of an ambitious Master Plan, this 32,000 square foot two-story building for transitional living was completed in 2010. The resulting 21-unit transitional and congregate housing facility achieved certification through the LEED for Homes program. This is especially significant for a residential, non-profit building.

Sustainable features include: energy efficient construction methods, high efficiency HVAC equipment and building/finish materials with highly recycled content. Another feature is a large roof mounted photovoltaic solar array to produce clean electrical power. This highly efficient building will reduce water and energy consumption by 30 to 40 percent over code compliant construction.

Dietz & Company Architects also provided the Master Plan and Phase 1 designs for offices, classrooms and an on-site shelter.
